Jalebis and Flags

Image
Its a bright sunny day. Everyone is dressed in formals. The sweet smell of jalebis dancing around in the air, rising from the corner stall. Children, with hair all tidied up and wrapped in white kurtas , running around with the tricolor flapping in their hands. You look around and you know what day it is- the day of the nation.  For me, this has been the oldest memory of the National Days as it must be for some others too. But this year, something's different. Much like those crisp and sugar-soaked jalebis,  the sense of freedom is a tad bit sweeter than the last time I remember.  26th January has always been the day of turning over a new page for our nation. New year, new face, new chapter and new hope. In the year 1950, this day gave us our Constitution, which entailed the freedom from the turmoil and mess that Britain had left behind. 71 years later, the year 2021, we are celebrating another such liberation, this time the freedom is from the mess that the pandemic left behind.

Her eyes...

Image
Ever seen such eyes? So flawlessly curved Each shade of her gaze  Like the stroke of a painter's brush. Ever seen such eyes? Deep till the bottom of soul. Just one look and  You can't help fall  And drown in her ocean. Ever got lost in those eyes? Forgetting your Senses  When she blinks. Like million stars  Twinkling at once. Ever seen them cry? Like a broken mirror they seem.  Hurts to see those tears Roll down them cheeks. Ever felt so special? To be the one  Whom they stare. To catch them looking at ya And see them turn away Have you ever?  Cause I have, just once. And it's a bliss. And it would last a lifetime Or till there's light in my eyes. And stars in hers.

What Silence says to me.

Image
Beyond those words, beyond those empty breaths, Silence walks up to me on tip-toes And beckons to me those soft Whispers of wisdom. Hear me, oh my deaf people, hear me! When i tell you, What silence says to me. When my closed eyes bring darks from the deep And i know not what to follow, It beams up a light deep within me And takes me off my shallows. Hear me, oh my lost people, hear me! When i tell you, What silence says to me. When my fire cooks up my anguish passions, And my redundant ambitions boil up on the stove, Blowing my heat, it takes the pot And pours it all out on my shadow.  Hear me, oh my blazing people, hear me! When I tell you, what silence says to me.  When those notorious little thoughts I try to keep out, it lets them in  And holds me by my shoulder. Like fluttering butterflies, they come and go, And like that silent flower, i blossom and grow! Hear me, oh my unquiet people, hear me! When i tell you What silence says to me. In the dusk,  Like a mother to her child It

Connections..!!

Image
Existence is a funny thing, isn't it?  It is as simple as- you either be or you don't! And yet we all wonder the question- how exactly ''to be''?   We all know that old saying- dubate ko tinake ka sahara. It means a drowning man clutches at even a straw. This saying, somehow gave me my answer to this troubling question.  I feel, in this world, when the river of time is flowing past us like wind, the only way not to drown and 'to be' is to 'hold on'. Hold on to something or someone and somehow you just swim ashore. We need that tinaka to save us from drowning. We need connection. Connections are the roots of our life. We need them to stay put; to have a reason to be. It weaves us in with this tapestry of the world, gives us a reason to believe that yes I belong in this world. Connections keep us alive, intact and together. Without them we are just living our life in loose ends. It is in our very nature to form connection with things that make us f

Life is in the Nuances.

Image
World is all about the Big Picture. Looking at everything like one huge ocean, blue and turbulent. And, yes it does give us a sense of expansion. But with this expansion comes an omission of the details. Details hiding small beauties. Beauties revealing huge feelings. These small beauties are called the nuances.  Nuances are the subtle and the tiniest details of something. They teach us a lot about Life. It makes us realize that the blue, of the ocean that we believe in, is truly the color of the sky, and that the ocean itself has a spectrum of colors to offer us, if we are willing to look for them. But are we?  We are looking for an ultimate destination, when the true spirit lies in the journey. We are struggling for the best life, when the true smiles lie in the memories. We are busy skipping through the book, when the true lessons lie in the words. If you think about it, all the great discoveries owe credit to someone who pondered deep about the most superficial thing. Someone noti

Being An Indian

In India I know I live Colorful and vivid as it is I am proud to breathe in it. Being an Indian  It's my pride to  Bend down and kiss the land It's my spirit that Makes me be rooted with our mother And stay down to Earth Being an Indian It's my prime moral That touching a woman  Is touching our mother Earth And so it bears mountains of respect Being an Indian It's a warning for you An insult to our nation Is a threat to your existence That our hearts beat  With thunderclaps and roars So we ring those bells at temple doors To make the world hear  The sound of our devotion Being an Indian  There's a message for the world, It's not the tone of our accent But the truth of the words we speak  That define me as Being an Indian.

Mind that Attitude, son!!

When you find yourself lost in the buzz of typicality, and call for a recess of true originality, you find your true self waiting for your attention. So, here I am, celebrating my originality; my true self i.e. writing!! So, you see, my college life has commenced. Which means  i have came across things like scheduled activities, gloomy lectures and most importantly, human interaction. That's right! Cause let's face it, it's just 2018 , and we don't have those virtual classrooms yet. So, yeah, new people and faces along with new experiences are erupting profusely.  When it comes to experiences, I've always felt in my deep conscience, that in each phase of our life, there is a uniform cycle of typical events or shits that take place, equivalent to our past ones. For example, going in college is a new phase for me. And I've had my share of shits in school, too. But the same cycle is gonna be repeated- making friends, having a circle, making a reputation, mainta

Why do I die for F.R.I.E.N.D.S. !?

Image
Since my "Blogging Life", I've written about different  things. But in each of them, I've been keeping one constant factor about me; the essence of my writing, if you may. And the factor is...... (drum roll!!).... F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Yes, F.R.I.E.N.D.S...!! And today, yes today, is its anniversary. Or should I say F.R.I.E.D.S-aversary  That means, on this day, 23 September in the year 1992, was premiered a television show, which even today (26 years later) has been voted as the best sitcom yet in the comedy genre. 26 years and still as funny and effective as it was then. So, on this auspicious day, I took the position to write all about it and why I am so mad about and crazily-in-love with it. First of all, i feel obligated to inform you that it is "F.R.I.E.N.D.S.". Its never just friends or f.r.i.e.n.d.s. or FRIENDS or any such thing. If you are a die-hard  F.R.I.E.N.D.S.-fan then you know how important it is in our world to capitalize those alphabets a

Adulting 101

Image
Growing up is the one thing we all never realize. Inconspicuously, we all grow up, that is the truth. Physically, yes, but the most supposedly important thing, the world thinks, is growing up "Mentally". I have encountered this dialogue about million times in my lifetime - "Act your own age!". And i am sure there are many more who say, "Be an adult, dude" or "Know your limits at this age". Well, to all those people , I'd love to say," MY ASS". As a new blogger to this sight, I would love to start my journey by stating the shits that we all face during our most important phase- Adulting. As it is during this period that we all have not a single clue as to how to 'Act our own Age'. Recently, i have passed my Class XII Board Exams, by rather surprisingly quality marks, given the minor hard work i did in the four months prior to exams. And, as I move towards being a College-boy, i have discovered these 'contours'
